Chennai: A day after announcing Pongal bonus for state Govt employees, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced concessions to the tune of Rs 163 crore for teachers serving in government and aided schools in the state.
The Chief Minister announced the concessions to benefit 2.73 lakh teachers, after conceding their demand for pay on par with the central government employees and removing anomalies in the sixth pay commission, an official release here said.
The concessions would benefit secondary grade teachers who draw grade pay, special grade secondary grade teachers, Graduate and Post-Graduate teachers and teachers serving in primary and middle schools, the release said.
Headmasters, serving in High schools and Higher Secondary Schools and Education officers would also be benefited by the announcement, the release said.
The newly announced benefits would come into effect from January 1 this year, the release added.
