Directors eye on Nithyananda

Bangalore: Kannada movie producer Madan Patel is trying to cash in controversy, life and romps of Swami Nityananda.

Patel on Thursday announced he'd direct `Sathyananda', a movie on Nityananda's alleged sex scandal involving Tamil actress Ranjitha. It's based on the widely-viewed YouTube clips, the 430-page chargesheet filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and accounts of victims and witnesses, he said.

"A former devotee, whose identity is being kept secret to protect him, is writing the script and will be able to give an insider's view of the entire episode," Madan said.

The production unit will, however, provide the writer's name and other details to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), he added.

Ranjitha to act?

The film-maker is still searching for someone to play Ranjitha. If she comes forward to act in this movie, she'll be given a handsome fee, he added.

When asked about possible legal action by Nityananda or his disciples, Patel said, "The story is fictional and names changed. No one can file a defamation case against me."
