Vijayawada: TDP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi, reacting to city police commissioner P S R Anjaneyulu's charges that he had plotted to frame him in the sex scandal, denied that he had any role in exposing the commissioner. Vamsi said he had no personal rivalry against Anjaneyulu.
However, he alleged that Anjaneyulu had committed several irregularities by abusing his power and was only trying to cover up his misdeeds now that the TV channels had aired the sleazy episode of him involving women. He wondered as to why the CP should engage himself in a vulgar conversation with women if he knew he was being trapped.
He also wondered as to why Anjaneyulu required a woman diabetologist for consultation. "Where was the need for him to have a long-term relationship with her?" he asked. Vamsi said Anjaneyulu himself is an "anti-social element" by involving himself in various issues like settlement of civil problems to family disputes to make money and enjoy the company of women.
He said his complaint against the CP was only to extent of his partisan attitude in handling the law and order situation in the city. He alleged that Anjaneyulu was working at the behest of Congress leader Devineni Nehru and protecting his interests. "Had he been an honest and sincere officer, why should he takes sides with Nehru," Vamsi fumed.
The TDP leader, who contested unsuccessfully against MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, said his personal security was reduced, despite a High Court order, by the CP. He said the CP had told him that his security was reduced following the instructions of DGP Aravinda Rao. When he brought the matter to the notice of the media, the CP again called him and warned him for using the name of DGP.
"He has no business to issue threats and warnings to us. We are law abiding citizens and we will follow all the instructions of the authorities," he explained.
