TDP President Chandra Babu Naidu (CBN), who is on a hunger strike for the past seven days has been forcibly shifted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), after doctors reportedly shared concern that he could slip into coma or he could have a cardiac arrest.
Mr. Naidu is on an indefinite hunger strike in protest against the “inadequate” relief package announced by the state government for farmers who lost their crop in the recent rains.
A six member team of expert doctors from NIMS is constantly monitoring the leader of the opposition.
Earlier today, talks initiated by Andhra Pradesh Government with Opposition parties for resolving Naidu's fast failed as Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy refused to concede to the TDP President's demands.
The principal Opposition TDP, CPI and CPM walked out of the meeting in protest against the government's adamant attitude.
"The Chief Minister only reiterated what he announced in the Assembly and stoutly refused to enhance compensation for farmers. He says the government has no money to enhance relief. The government clearly did not have an open mind to resolve the crisis," said TDP, CPI and CPM leaders after they walked out of the all-party meeting.
