Eamcet 2011 on May 8

Eamcet-2011 will be held on May 8, Minister for Higher Education Damodar Raja Narasimha said at a meeting held at the Secretariat on Thursday.

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) would conduct the test and the results would be announced within 15 days after the examination, he said. He also informed that Icet (for admissions in MCA and MBA colleges) would be conducted by Andhra University on May 15. Ecet would be conducted by JNTU on May 20, while Ed Cet would be conducted by Osmania University on June 4 and PG Ecet on July 6-11.

He added that the medical examination in Eamcet would be foolproof this year to prevent the students from indulging in malpractices. During Eamcet 2010, some students had used bluetooth-enabled cell phones to get help from experts from outside.

"This year we are planning to introduce jammers at all the examination centres for medicine. For getting the jammers, the IG of communications department has been contacted," said D N Reddy, JNTU vice-chancellor.

Meanwhile, Reddy also said that Eamcet marks would be tentatively declared on May 24 and the ranks on July 20. The exam notification would be released in the first week of February.
