Chennai: Kollywood fans are curiously awaiting the release of big tickets - Kaavalan, Siruthai and Aadukalam. After many years, this is the first time Pongal is having so many big releases. Vijay-Asin starrer Kaavalan is a remake of Malayalam movie Bodyguard that was a sleeper hit in Mollywood. Director Siddique, maker of Bodyguard has wielded megaphone for the remake version as well. After a long sabbatical interval, Vijay makes his comeback with a breezy romantic entertainer laced with more humor and emotions.
Following the grand success of Polladhavan, Dhanush and Vetrimaaran are coming together for the film Aadukalam that is produced by Sun Pictures. Touted to be a action drama set in backdrops of Madurai, the film marks the debut of Delhi based actress Taapsee. The songs by G.V. Prakash have already become instant hits with 'Yaathe Yaathe' and 'Oththa Sollala' as chartbusters.
Siruthai, a remake of Telugu blockbuster Vikramakudu marks the debut directorial of cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Shiva, whose Telugu movies Shouryam and Shankam were super hits.
Apart from these films, Chief Minister Kalainyar M Karunanidhi's Ilaignan starring lyric writer Pa Vijay, Meera Jasmine and Ramya Nambeesan in lead roles is scheduled for release as well.
