T MP's and MLA's skip Sankranti festival

Hyderabad: In view of protests by Telangana agitators, MPs and MLAs are hesitating to go to their native places for the Sankranti festival, leaders have decided to celebrate the festival in Hyderabad. This despite the deployment of heavy police security at the residences of all important leaders.

Minister for major and medium irrigation P. Sudarshan Reddy and MLAs have restricted their tours to the district, following a surge in agitations after declaration of the Justice Srikrishna Committee report.
 
The Telangana Students Joint Action Committee (TSJAC) targeted Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president D. Srinivas and has been continuously burning his effigies. The agitators also tried to attack his residence in the town on Thursday.

At present, three MLA's E. Ravinder Reddy of Telangana Rashtra Samiti, Y. Lakshminarayana (BJP) and Pocharam Srinivas Reddy (formerly Telugu Desam) are actively participating in the separate state movement.

Agitators are targeting the remining MLAs in the district. They have already attacked the house of minister P. Sudarshan Reddy in Nizamabad. They also tried to attack the houses of MP Madhu Goud Yashki, MLAs Mandava Venkateshwar Rao (Nizamabad rural), A. Annapurna (Armoor), Gampa Govardhan (Kamareddy) and MLC D. Rajeshwar Rao. Police have deployed 5+1 pattern security at the residences of MLAs and other important leaders in the district.
