Minister K Jana Reddy yesterday said the state government had so far lifted about 700 cases registered against 3,400 people in Telangana and Seemeandhra regions for taking part in the pro and anti-agitations for separate Telangana state.
In the second week of this month the government made a statement in the Assembly withdrawing 565 cases involving 2,400 students and youth. Chief Minister after talking with the ministers in the aftermath of the Telengana MPs staging a ''Satyagraha'' on the issue, withdrew 135 cases foisted against 900 students, he told reporters at Secretariat here.
Mr Reddy said 1,670 cases of simple or serious nature were registered in the two regions and after lifting 700 cases so far, the Chief Minister responded postively in the meeting to examine the remaining 970 cases before taking a decision as soon as possible.
The minister appealed to the Telengana Congress MPs to withdraw their fast after the lifting of some more cases today.
He appealed to the MPs , organizations and others to cooperate with the government in this regard.
