The much awaited report of the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee is just a day away. Contrary to the expectations, the committee will submit its report tomorrow, a day in advance to the deadline given to it.
Reports from New Delhi said the committee members have sought an appointment with Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday afternoon. Since he will be leaving for Arunachal Pradesh on December 31, the committee members decided to advance the submission of report by a day. However, it is not sure whether the contents of the report would be leaked to the media or not. The committee is believed to have prepared a three-page summary of the report for the sake of the media, but it is left entirely to the Home Ministry to release the report to the media.
Information Minister Ambika Soni told the media that Government wanted the media to maintain restraint on reporting the contents of the report so as to avoid provocation to either side.
Comment by Ambika Soni: “We request the media to see that there would be no telecast of any protests or celebrations in the wake of sensitivity of the issue”
